I’m Varya, a 25 year old, Slavic-American freelancing creative and photographer based in Chicago, IL.

Shooting since the age of 18, my work is fueled by the intersectionality of self identity (often relating to biculturalism), eccentricism, femininity-as it relates to being a woman on and offline, and emotional expression through fashion.

My visual interests include wedding photography, portraiture, documentary style couples shoots, street photography, and avant garde editorial work. While I do shoot on digital mainly, I love experimenting with analog photography (35 mm film!!).

For me, inspiration comes from real, complex, beautiful people and their stories.

Outside of photography, I’m a graduate of depaul university, with bachelor’s degrees in pr & advertising, and psychology, and a masters degree in digital communication & media art, with a concentration in storytelling.
